Footballer Gavin Stokes dies in horror car crash in Glasgow as family pay tribute to 'amazing dad'
A SCOTS footballer who died in a horror car crash on a busy Glasgow road has been named by cops.
Gavin Stokes, who played for the likes of Dundee United and Alloa Athletic, passed away after his vehicle lost control and left the road at around 1.10am this morning.
The incident happened at the Thornwood roundabout near to Glasgow's Dumbarton Road.
Sadly, the 30-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family have paid tribute to him as as a beloved son, amazing dad, brother, uncle and friend.
One of Gavin's favourite things to do was to spend time with his son Freddie - who he brought up with partner Lauren.

During his time as a footballer, Gavin played for Dundee United, Kilbirnie, Maryhill Juniors, Irvine Meadow, Alloa Athletic and the Scotland International Team.
And is remembered for scoring one of the world’s fastest ever recorded goals in 2.1 seconds for Maryhill against Clydebank.
He became an internet sensation and even made it onto Sky Sports News for his spectacular halfway line goal.
Gavin was also a qualified electrician.

In a tribute through Police Scotland, Gavin's family wrote: "He was the life and soul of the party.
"One of the most important things in Gavin’s life was being with his son Freddie. Gavin and his partner, Lauren brought him up to be the best boy ever.
"Freddie was Gavin’s whole world and spending time with him was his favourite thing to do.
"Gavin also loved, his mum Alice, dad Edward, sister Shannon, brother Garry, and niece Isla very dearly and he will be greatly missed.
"Gavin was a qualified electrician and was very passionate about his career.
"He was a great footballer in his youth and is remembered for scoring one of the World’s fastest ever recorded goals in 2.1 seconds.
"Gavin played with various football clubs in his time, Dundee United, Kilbirnie, Maryhill Juniors, Irvine Meadow, Alloa Athletic, Dundee United and the Scotland International Team, to name just a few."
Sergeant Paul Mellis said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died following this crash.

“Our investigation is ongoing and I would appeal to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to contact us.
