Star Wins Video Vanguard Award, OWNS Stage With Epic Medley
Beyonce accepted the Video Vanguard Award Sunday and absolutely SHUT DOWN The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., for a medley that lasted over 15 minutes.
Honored at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards for the indelible mark she’s left on the network and the genre, the Queen claimed her throne in an epic performance:
Like last year’s winner Justin Timberlake, the Video Vanguard Award is a lifetime achievement honor of sorts, and the recipient gets to put on a SHOW.
Not just a performance, but a mini-concert. Wearing a bedazzled, rainbow-colored body suit, Bey owned every minute of it as she went through her catalog.
Starting off the set with the mid-tempo "Mine," the 32-year-old transitioned into to favorites like "Drunk in Love" and "Partition," followed by "Rocket" and "Jealous."
While singing her hit "Drunk in Love," she was surrounded not by Jay Z, but by dancers covered in sparkling gold body paint in thongs and bras.
Speaking of Jay, can we finally put those Beyonce divorce rumors to rest? He was sitting in the audience the entire time … along with little Blue Ivy!
After taking a twirl around a stripper pole during the lovably raunchy track "Partition," the fierce singer transitioned into her girl power anthem "Flawless."
She also sang a snippet of the Nicki Minaj "Flawless" remix, in which she referenced the Jay Z-Solange fight, then turned emotional on the fittingly titled "Blue."
At that point, home videos of her daughter and husband flashed behind her. Quite the kiss-off to the haters right there, as both of them sat and clapped.
She ended the performance with "XO," a dedication to her fans.
It’s Beyonce’s world. The rest of just live in it. Especially Jay Z, as there’s no way those two are actually splitting up. Just saying. You heard it here first.
